The State Class Editor
The State Class Editor lets you edit the States and Transitions for one or more State Classes.
Editor Layout
The State Class Editor is divided horizontally into two grids:
1. The States Grid
The States Grid contains the State Classes that are currently being edited. The image above shows the State Class Editor opened for two State Classes:
- Agriculture:All
- Developed:All
The title bar for the window also contains the names of these State Classes.
2. The Probabilistic Transitions Grid
The Probabilistic Transitions grid lets you edit the Probabilistic Transitions for the open State Classes.
Opening the Editor
To open the State Class Editor, select one or more State Classes in the Transition Diagram and either:
- Select Open from the diagram's Context Menu.
- Or, double-click on the selected State Classes.
Tip
Multiple State Class Editors can be opened at the same time for different combinations of State Classes.
Using the Context Menu
The grids you see in this window are the same as the grids you see for the State and Transition Properties, except that they have been filtered to show you only the information that is relevant to the currently open State Classes.
As a result, the Context Menu items are nearly the same. However, there are two menu items that are specific to the grids in this window:
Item | Description |
---|---|
Transitions To | Shows the Transitions coming to the open State Classes. |
Transitions From | Shows the Transitions going from the open State Classes. (Default) |
Note that, as with many Property grids, there can be any number of optional columns which you can show and hide by clicking their Context Menu items.
Remarks
Setting the To Class to the same value as the From Class in the States grid will disable the Deterministic Transition for that State Class.
Also, if you show the To Stratum and From Stratum columns you can define Deterministic or Probabilistic Transitions that go to a different Stratum.
And finally, note that the word "Stratum" in the Context Menu may have been replaced with different Terminology.
